Actions Overview

Actions allow you to update records, send communications, start and stop Automations, or notify team members.

 

Types of Actions

Activities

Schedule Activity Schedule an activity, assign it to a team member, and set a due date. If needed, Add a Notification (via text or email) to remind the team member of the due date. 

  1. Choose Activity
  2. Assign To
  3. Set the Due Date
  4. Include any notes (if applicable)
  5. Add Notification (if applicable)
  6. Save

Automations

Start/Stop Sequences - Start or stop specific message sequences.

This sequence step is helpful when you want to automate a series of outreach or campaigns. This step is particularly useful when paired with goal steps

  1. Choose Sequences to start
    1. Note: You can start multiple sequences at once
  2. Choose Sequences to cancel
    1. Note: You can cancel multiple sequences at once
  3. Click Save

Hint

An example of then to use the Start/Stop Sequence Action is to send a series of emails to a lead until a product is purchased. When a new lead comes in, you can start the message sequence and then cancel the message sequence when a purchase is made. 

 

External HTTP RequestsSend an external API request. 

External HTTP requests are typically created by technical users of the system. This action allows for  sending data from Kizen to another system. The step allows for POST, PUT, PATCH, AND DELETE requests to a specified URL. 

  1. Choose Custom HTTP Action
    1. PUT - A PUT requests is used to update a specific resource and typically replaces whatever exists at the target URL.
    2. POST - A POST request sends data to a specified URL to create a resource.
    3. PATCH - A PATCH request partially updates a specified resource
    4. DELETE - A DELETE request will delete the specified resource. 
  2. Enter the Request URL
    1. This URL can include "merge fields" which gives the user access to the data on the record this automation execution is running on. 
  3. Data Payload
    1. This data payload can be in JSON, XML, or any other specified format that is needed.
    2. The payload can include "merge fields" which gives the user access to the data on the record this automation execution is running on. 
  4. Customize Header (Parameters and Values)
    1. You are able to add as many headers as you'd like to this request
    2. This is typically used to authenticate your request to a third party service or specify your payload format.

Fields

Change Tags - Add or remove tags on a record. 

  1. Choose Tags to Add
    1. Choose from tags previously created or Add a New Tag
    2. Note: You can add multiple tags at once
  2. Choose Tags to Remove
    1. Choose from tags previously created or Add a New Tag
    2. Note: You can add multiple tags at once
  3. Save

Messages

Send Email - Send an email to the contact. Emails can be selected from the Library or created from scratch. 

  1. Select which team member the email should be sent from
  2. Update the Send From Name (if applicable)
  3. Choose Email to Send
    1. Select an email from your Library Templates or Create an email from scratch
  4. Save

Click on Insert Merge Field to personalize your email to the contact.

Send Text Message - Send a personalized text message to the contact. Text Messages are often used in automations for sending contacts reminders about upcoming events. 

  1. Create the body of your text message
  2. Save

Send Survey - Send a survey to a contact to collect feedback on their experience or satisfaction. 

  1. Choose Survey to Send
  2. Save

Team 

Notification (Email) - Notify a team member via email. 

  1. Select the Team Member to Notify
  2. Choose Email to Send
    1. Select an email from your Library Templates or Create an email from scratch
  3. Save

Assign Team Member - Assign a team member to the contact record.
